Editing a Whitepaper
I often use "Track Changes" in Microsoft Word to make detailed suggestions and ask questions. I try to have a light touch when I edit someone's work, to preserve the writer's own voice. At the same time, I want clients to know why I make the changes I do. That gives them the opportunity to dispute changes if they feel it's necessary. Sometimes an explanation for an editorial change can help the client avoid making the same mistake in the future.
Sample from an Online Editing Session
The online editing and teleconferencing tools that I use allow for immediate consultation or for the reflective development of an idea over time. In this sample, I had just begun to advise a client on modifications to a flyer on short sales that he wanted to leave at the homes of potential customers.
